A Computer Driver is a software application file which is required by Windows Operating System Software to enable connected devices (Hardwares) function properly as required. The device can be inbuilt (e.g. Soundcard) or connected external (e.g. printer).
Notwithstanding, we have some devices which are plug and play, meaning, they automatically get connected with Windows Operating System without configuration or driver installation. Examples of such devices are Computer mouse and keyboard, pen drives, some joysticks etc.
Manufacturers like HP, Dell and others therefore create drivers for their computers and other devices they manufacture and these drivers are found on their websites. Therefore every device has it own unique drivers that makes it function properly as required by the manufacturer.
But in other to download these drivers on their websites, you must know the model or serial number of that particular device, and that is great challenge as finding a serial number or model is difficult for alot of people especially less I.T. inclined.
